Welcome!

My name is Neil Scrivener, and I have put this site together to talk about legal issues as a ‘layman’. Some of these will be SLAPP’s, but this blog offers wider help for Litigants in Person, help for solicitors and barristers, maybe help for Judges – and to poke some fun at how how terrible some of the professionals can be.

Whether you’ve been threatened with legal action, are having to bring or defend it as a litigant (whether represented or not), or have a hearing or trial imminent; it can be daunting, scary, confusing and rule-driven process. Sometimes the legal system can appear to have too much legalese, sometimes there are too many rules, often there is no help without paying huge amounts of money you may not have – and sometimes the legal system can appear to be a bit of a ‘protected boys club’.

In reality, it is none of those things – and if Neil Scrivener can work it out, having left school at 16 with 5 GCSE’s and no legal training: so can you!

This blog hopes to tackle some of the above misconceptions, get down to the issues the Court is actually interested in, offer some tips on how to conduct yourself in a good way and maybe even make the legal process enjoyable.

DISCLAIMER: I am not legally qualified or officially trained – just experienced and successful. Nothing on this website should be considered to be legal advice, or taken as such. Nothing on this website can substitute to that of the advice of a good lawyer. There is however a caveat to this……..hiring someone qualified doesn’t mean they’re any good – so make sure you do your research.
