About Neil Scrivener

My name is Neil Scrivener, and I possibly may have one of the most successful, varied and unique ‘legal careers’ of anyone in the UK…….all while, er, not having any official legal qualifications!

I’ve been successful in numerous actions in the High Court, County Courts, Crown Court, Small Claims Court…..and a Court in Australia! I’ve found myself thrust into included novel and unique points of law, and in some cases ‘test cases’ in the High Court and Crown Court. Sometimes this has been arguing against Barristers who became KC in the years before I was born……..and I’ve still managed to win!

Am I a fake lawyer? No! Criminal? No! Serial litigator? I don’t think so!

In short, I run different businesses, I campaign for what I think is right, and I don’t take any nonsense from those who try to take advantage of me, or others. I especially don’t take any nonsense from solicitors who think its appropriate threaten and intimidate the ‘small guys’.

Somehow, for some reason, whether in business or my personal life, I seem to be a magnet for attracting these kinds of shysters………so I put them right….and sometimes it’s necessary to do it in the Courts!

I am by no means you’re ‘average’ ‘Litigant in Person’, who are often seen as people who are perhaps retired, perhaps with a little too much time on their hands, perhaps have an academic background, etc, etc.

Quite the opposite to those things – I am in my 30’s, run various businesses, time poor…….. and I left school at 16 with 5 x GCSE’s.

I am also a Scambaiter, and have teamed up with co-blogger 0lly to expose scams over the years – the exposure of one of these scams led to the conviction and imprisonment for 13 years of an owner of a company owner committing fraud, at £100M+ per year.

Until about 10 years I go I thought a Barrister worked in a coffee shop and a Tort was a type of cake!

What’s next in my ‘legal career’ remains to be seen, I am having some interesting conversations – but it seems that the scams targeted towards small businesses don’t seem to stop!
